Extra land sought for Mayo burial grounds

ADDITIONAL ground is being looked at for Islandeady Cemetery.

Local concern about burial space running short has been flagged by Councillor Harry Barrett with Mayo County Council.

It's coming to an emergency situation, down to the last few double plots, and land has to be found to expand the graveyard, he told a meeting of the local authority.

Councillor Barrett was told the council is actively looking for a site for new burial ground in Islandeady.
