People left 'shook and rattled' when travelling on R335 in west Mayo
PEOPLE are being 'shook and rattled' when travelling on the R335 between Westport and Louisburgh.
Local Councillor Chris Maxwell wants a timeline on a long-term improvement plan for the route from Belclare to Louisburgh.
Councillor Maxwell said whether he's at Mass or a meeting, he is always getting representations on when the R335 is going to be repaired and brought up to a reasonable standard.
People coming in and out to work every day are shook and rattled to bits be they in their cars, tractors or trucks, and it's a joke and a disgrace at this stage, he commented at a municipal district meetign.
The people of Louisburgh seem to be forgotten about, said Councillor Maxwell, and he wanted to know when the first couple of kilometres promised would start, and also the timeline for future works to improve the route from Belclare out to Louisburgh.
“I need to know what the longterm plan is,” he urged council management.
Works on a section of the road will be starting in November, he was told.
