Disqualified driver arrested for drink driving in east Mayo

Gardaí in Mayo have arrested and charged a motorist who was found to be disqualified and over the legal alcohol limit during a roadside stop in Swinford.

Members of the Mayo Roads Policing Unit stopped the vehicle as part of ongoing road safety operations in the area.

A quick check on the Garda mobility app revealed that the driver was already disqualified from driving.

Upon further investigation, the motorist was arrested on suspicion of drink driving and later confirmed to be over the legal alcohol limit.

The vehicle was subsequently seized and the driver has been charged with a number of offences.

They are expected to appear before the courts in due course.

Gardaí have once again appealed to all road users to act responsibly, particularly over the Bank Holiday weekend.
