Sod set to be turned on south Mayo housing projects this year

THE sod is to be turned on four housing projects in Ballinrobe before the year is out.

They relate to the redevelopment of derelict sites in the town, with Councillor Damien Ryan questioning council management on when construction will start.

Completion is due in 2027, he was informed, with a lot of complexity around the buildings, which are located at Castlebar Road, Creagh Road, Convent Road and Main Street.

Director of services Tom Gilligan said these are important projects, providing housing and removing dereliction, and it is hoped to have a sod turning before the end of the year.
