Concerns remnants of Hurricane Melissa could hit west of Ireland
Concerns are being raised that the remnants of Hurricane Melissa could hit the west coast of Ireland.
According to the Carlow Weather Facebook platform, it could bring some wet and windy here in Ireland in a week’s time - "but uncertainty on details yet."
Hurricane Melissa is a category five storm, the strongest to lash the island since record-keeping began 174 years ago.
The system has maximum sustained winds of 280km/h, according to the US National Hurricane Centre in Miami.
