Club delegates back Mayo GAA €15m. Centre of Excellence proposal

Mayo GAA club delegates have backed the proposed Mayo GAA Centre of Excellence in Bohola.

The cost of the project is estimated to be €15 million, and the project includes: five full-size pitches/possibility of a sixth (one of these may be an astroturf pitch), clubhouse with dressings rooms, a gymnasium, medical rooms, offices and video analysis facilities.

The main pitch will also include a seated spectator stand. There will be a car park which will have roughly 250 parking spaces, with an overflow parking area available.

A lot of work has been undertaken by Mayo GAA over the last six to eight months with regards to seeing if the site in Bohola was suitable, with site investigations carried out.

Various meetings also took place with the stakeholders, and on Wednesday night the Mayo County Board felt that they were in a position to make a presentation to the club delegates.

Quantity Surveyor and Eastern Gales club member Paul Hickey gave a video presentation of the project to the club delegates and answered any questions they had in relation to the proposed development.

The project will now progress to the planning permission stage.
