Supports available for workers affected by Nuvion Group collapse - Mayo minister
Minister for Social Protection, Dara Calleary TD, has said that a range of State supports are in place for workers and contractors affected by the receivership of The Nuvion Group which includes Parcel Connect, Nügo, and Fastway Couriers.
Speaking yesterday, Minister Calleary said his thoughts were with the employees and their families facing uncertainty in the wake of the company’s collapse.
“Following the announcement from The Nuvion Group, my thoughts are with the workers and their families who are dealing with the uncertainty arising from this difficult news,” he said.
The Fianna Fáil minister confirmed that his Department has already made contact to ensure information and supports are available to those affected.
“These include a range of income supports, and assistance to move to alternative employment, or to access appropriate education, training, and development options,” he said.
Minister Calleary also highlighted the recently introduced Jobseeker’s Pay-Related Benefit, launched in March, which provides a maximum weekly payment of €450 for those who lose their job and meet the eligibility criteria.
“The easiest and quickest way to apply for a jobseeker’s payment is online at MyWelfare.ie, which provides safe, convenient online access to social welfare services,” he added.
The Nuvion Group, which operated several major delivery and logistics brands, entered receivership earlier this week, affecting hundreds of workers nationwide.
