Enhancement works to start in west Mayo village
LONG awaited village enhancement works will commence in Murrisk later this month.
The most significant part of the work will be the creation of a shared three-metre footpath/cycle-lane through the village (see map below for detail).
Confirming the news, Councillor Peter Flynn extended thanks to the landowners along the way who cooperated with the project team, ensuring there was no need for CPO. He also thanked the council staff who worked with the local community to make the project happen.
On other local road works, he explained that resurfacing work which has started at Beclare 'is unfortunately just for a 2km stretch as far as Killadangan'.
He explained: “This is a council road (not TII) and with a limited county wide roads budget it is going to take years to get the entire road to Louisburgh completed; all the shouting in the world won't change this.”
The resurfacing work is expected to be completed at the end of next week.
