Councillor raises objection to proposed Mayo IPAS centre

A planning application has been lodged with Mayo County Council by Bridgestock Care Ltd seeking permission to develop 32 accommodation units at the Old Convent site in Ballyhaunis.

The application is listed on the council’s ePlanning portal, but no planner has yet been assigned to assess it.

It follows an earlier submission by the same company which was declared void according the councillor.

Local Fine Gael Councillor Alma Gallagher confirmed she has been in contact with Mayo county council on the matter and has made her opposition to the proposal clear on her social media this afternoon.

“I am exercising my right to object to this development as a private citizen,” Councillor Gallagher stated.

“As a public representative I am totally opposed to this development and will be working towards ensuring it does not happen.”

Councillor Gallagher said there is no contract, agreement or dialogue in place between the developer and any government department, and that the application remains a private proposal.
