Mayo island takes delivery of new community tractor

A MAYO island has taken delivery of a new community tractor.

The vehicle arrived on Inishturk in recent days and has been hailed as a a real boost for the community and everyday island life.

The shared resource will support the safe transport of goods and materials, assist with essential works and maintenance, and will play a vital role in keeping the island safe, connected, and resilient through the seasons.

The project was funded by the Department of Rural and Community Development under the CLÁR Programme, with Inishturk awarded €50,000 for the tractor.

In an update on the delivery on the Inishturk Facebook page, thanks was extended to Minister Dara Calleary, the Department of Rural and Community Development and the Gaeltacht, and all who continue to champion island communities.
