New depot for council outdoor staff in south Mayo
OUTDOOR staff working for Mayo County Council in Claremorris can look forward to improved working conditions.
A new welfare building is to be built at the Ballinasmalla depot, with local councillors approving plans for the facility.
The existing facilities for outdoor staff were described as 'very basic' when a planning report on the project, which also includes a brine saturation station, came before the monthly municipal district meeting.
Councillor Richard Finn said the development would bring the depot 'into the modern age', describing it as a significant milestone.
They must make life a bit easier for all staff, he said, and this development would also make the facilities more environmentally friendly, with what's in place at the moment being 'outdated'.
