Mayo county town set for an extra bright and bustling festive season
Castlebar Chamber, in partnership with Castlebar Municipal District, has unveiled a vibrant festive season for Castlebar, featuring enhanced Christmas lighting, festive events, business and community initiatives and new support for start-up enterprises.
The chamber is encouraging everyone to shop and celebrate locally, support Castlebar businesses, and keep the community thriving this holiday season.
Christmas Lights Enhancement
Working together, Castlebar Chamber and Castlebar Municipal District are thrilled to have secured funding under the Community Recognition Fund to significantly enhance the town’s Christmas lighting scheme.
Locals are encouraged to come and witness the magic of the new lights being switched on Friday, November 28.
This marks the start of a bright and festive season in the town.
The chamber and municipal district thank the building owners who have kindly granted permission to facilitate these new installations, helping create a brighter, more festive atmosphere in Castlebar.
Festive Events and Activities
Castlebar’s 2025 Christmas Calendar focuses on community, connection, and collaboration - bringing people together to shop, celebrate, and enjoy festive experiences:
• Friday, November 28: Christmas Lights Switch-On, Market Square
• Saturday, November 29: Shop Local Campaign. Support your community. Keep Castlebar thriving.
• Thursday to Saturday, December 12 to 14: Outdoor Christmas Movies, Collectors Lane
• Thursday to Sunday, December 18 to 21: - Castlebar Christmas Markets, Collectors Lane and Bridge Street (1 to 8 p.m.), featuring local traders, food stalls, crafts, and live music.
Start-Up Support Initiative
Castlebar Chamber president Maria Staunton has launched a new monthly initiative to support aspiring entrepreneurs.
The first session takes place on Friday, November 21.
This free initiative is a fantastic opportunity for anyone looking to start or scale a business in Castlebar.
