An Post told to reverse planned relocation of Mayo delivery service unit

PLANS by An Post An to relocate its Ballyhaunis delivery service unit to Castlerea next year continue to be resisted.

Senator Mark Duffy has called on the postal company to reverse its decision.

He made the call following a meeting with An Post workers in Ballyhaunis yesterday evening, where he was joined by local Fine Gael Councillor Alma Gallagher.

Said Senator Duffy: “The delivery service unit is a thriving hub that needs to be protected.

“It operates daily from 9 to 5.30 p.m., employs 13 people, and supports hundreds of jobs in the region with its service.

“I am demanding An Post to overturn this decision.”

Councillor Gallagher has said reports of the potential relocation have caused deep concern among postal workers and the wider Ballyhaunis community.

She commented: “We are determined to keep the doors open in our service delivery unit and no stone will be left unturned to ensure a positive outcome.”
