Mayo community grieves passing of retired postman

The death of Donal O’Mahony, Partry, has evoked a huge sense of loss in the community.

A retired postman, he was popular and respected across a wide area of west Mayo.

He also carried out agricultural services for local farming families for many years, bringing humour and wit to every job.

Tributes on social media have described Donal as 'a true gentleman in every sense, a lovely man'.

He is deeply regretted by his devoted wife Helen, daughters Imelda (Gerry), Trish (James), and Paula (Paul), sons John (Arlene) and Donal (Gemma), his brother Brendan (Cross), sons-in-law Gerry, James and Paul, daughters sister-in-law Arlene and Gemma, sisters-in-law Maura (Lanesborough) and Margaret (Shrule), grandchildren Seán, Aoife, Ciara, Ciarán, Orna, Shauna, Caoimhín, Cillian, Odhrán, Kayleigh, Félim, Shay, Rían and Aoibheann, nephew Fergal, niece Caitriona, relatives, neighbours and large circle of friends.

Sympathy is extended to the bereaved family on their loss.

Reposing at his home (F12 W735) this evening (Monday) from 4 until 8 p.m.

Removal on Tuesday morning to St. Mary’s Church, Partry, for Requiem Mass at 12 noon with burial afterwards in Ballyovey Cemetery.
