Gardaí investigations ongoing into death of man in Mayo collision
Investigations are continuing and a garda file is being prepared on the death of Michael John Murphy (43) in a single vehicle road collision on the N59 Ballycroy to Mulranny road in February of this year, an inquest has been told.
Mr. Murphy, a father of two, with an address at The Docklands, Belmullet, formerly from Drummindoo, Westport, died from the injuries he received in the single vehicle road traffic accident.
An inquest at Ballina Courthouse into Mr. Murphy’s death was opened and adjourned by the Coroner for the District of Mayo, Dr. Eleanor Fitzgerald, after Sergeant Noel Crinnegan informed the coroner that garda investigations are continuing.
Garda Sinead Barrett told the brief hearing that Mr. Murphy’s body was identified to her by his brother, Patrick.
Pathologist Dr. Fadel Bennani gave evidence of multiple injuries to the face and head of the deceased.
He outlined that tests showed a negative reading for alcohol.
The substantive inquest hearing was adjourned by the coroner pending the completion of the garda investigation.
