Mayo TD welcomes funding
Fine Gael TD for Mayo Keira Keogh has welcomed €329,625 in Dormant Accounts funding for 13 community and voluntary organisations across Ireland. The funding, allocated under the 2025 What Works Enhancing Quality Fund, will support organisations to strengthen prevention and early intervention services for children, young people and families.
Deputy Keogh said: “These allocations under the What Works Enhancing Quality Fund are the kind of early intervention supports that change lives, from infant mental health to bereavement care, domestic violence prevention, and social inclusion.
“As someone who worked for nearly two decades as a behaviour consultant with neurodiverse children and their families, I’ve seen how timely, high quality support can transform a child’s trajectory. As a Mayo TD and Chair of the Oireachtas Committee on Children and Equality, I want every euro of this funding to translate into proper, measurable outcomes for children, young people, and their families.
“Many of the funding streams have been allocated to nationwide projects that will benefit young people across Mayo and the west of Ireland. I am thrilled that funding has gone to so many groups that do stellar work in our communities, such as Barnardos, Foróige, Children in Hospital Ireland, Childhood Matters, the Irish Foster Care Association, and NCI’s Early Learning Initiative.
Deputy Keogh added:
“I met with Barnardos this week and I know that even more funding is needed for this sector. I will keep pushing for increased, sustained funding for high quality supports for children and young people nationwide.”
