Over 10,000 Mayo farmers will receive €26.8m as balancing payments commence

Minister of State Alan Dillon TD has welcomed the commencement of balancing payments. These payments are under the 2025 Basic Income Support for Sustainability (BISS), Complementary Redistribution Income Support for Sustainability (CRISS), and Areas of Natural Constraints (ANC) schemes, along with payments under the Complementary Income Support for Young Farmers (CISYF).

Minister Dillon confirmed that 10,162 farmers in Mayo will receive €26,829,176 under these schemes, providing vital support to farm families and the wider rural economy across the county.

The commencement of BISS and CRISS balancing payments brings the total paid, including CISYF, to €819 million, with 116,681 farmers now in receipt of payments. From today, €281 million will issue to farmers in the form of balancing payments, with 98.4% of eligible applicants receiving support.

Payments totalling €37 million have also issued to 96,000 farmers under the ANC scheme, bringing the total paid to €241 million, with over 99% of eligible applicants supported. A further €32 million is being paid under the CISYF scheme, supporting young farmers and underpinning generational renewal in the agriculture sector.

Minister Dillon said: “This is a significant day for Mayo’s farming community. Over €26.8 million is now flowing directly to 10,162 farmers across the county, providing essential income support and strengthening the sustainability of family farms. These payments are a cornerstone of rural life, ensuring that farmers can continue to contribute to our local economy and maintain the traditions that make Mayo unique.”

He added: “I have worked closely with Minister Heydon to ensure these payments are delivered promptly and fairly. The scale of support being provided nationally, €819 million under BISS and CRISS, €241 million under ANC, and €32 million under CISYF, demonstrates the Government’s commitment to farm families and rural communities. For Mayo, this funding is transformative, supporting livelihoods, sustaining communities, and securing the future of farming for the next generation.”

Payments will be visible in farmers’ bank accounts in the coming days.
