Mayo agri businesses participate in cross-border trade mission
TWO innovative Mayo-based companies, Clarke Agri Engineering and Sealac, were among 20 innovative businesses from across Ireland that took part in InterTradeIreland’s two-day cross-border trade mission to Northern Ireland, focused on the agri-tech and agri-manufacturing sectors.
The trade mission formed part of InterTradeIreland’s Trade Missions @Home initiative - a programme designed to help businesses fast-track export opportunities and accelerate sales growth in the cross-border market.
Over the two days, participating companies took part in pre-arranged sales meetings and networking sessions with potential buyers and partners in Northern Ireland, supported by InterTradeIreland’s trade experts.
Clarke Agri Engineering was founded by agricultural engineer Michael Clarke, who grew up on a farm with a passion for machinery. The company designs and builds practical, high-quality agricultural equipment to help farmers work more efficiently and sustainably.
Michael Clarke, founder of Clarke Agri Engineering, said: “Taking part in this cross-border trade mission opened doors to new markets, valuable partnerships, and fresh opportunities for growth that can elevate our business to the next level.”
Sealac creates natural seaweed-based animal health products that support gut health and reduce the need for antibiotics on farms. Their sustainable, science-backed solutions are helping farmers care for animals in a more natural way.
Martin Dempsey, co-Founder of Sealac, commented: “Taking part in the trade mission helped Sealac expand its market reach, build strategic partnerships and gain valuable insights to drive growth across the island.”
Said Anne-Marie McAteer, trade manager at InterTradeIreland: “The agri-tech and manufacturing sectors are vital for the all-island economy, with innovation and sustainability at their core. Our Trade Missions @Home initiative is designed to give businesses the platform, contacts and confidence to take their next steps into new markets. Cross-border trade and collaboration continues to be one of the most effective ways to scale and sustain growth.”
The initiative gives businesses like Clarke Engineering and Sealac the chance to connect directly with industry representatives and develop new cross-border sales opportunities. Participants also received up to five days of specialist mentoring and sales training, along with tailored support to identify new business prospects.
