Mayo female voice choir host concert in aid of children with special needs
BellaCapella, the female voice choir based in Castlebar, will present a fundraising concert ‘A Song for Winter’ in Christ Church, Castlebar, on Saturday next, December 6, at 7.30 p.m.
The concert is in aid of AIRC, Supporting Children with Additional Needs and Mayo Autism Camp.
The Song for Winter concert will be a heartwarming program of carols and contemporary pieces, creating a magical evening of music.
Sarah Lawrence, BellaCapella’s director, is also delighted to have as guests on the night Castlebar Primary School Choir directed by Catherine O’Driscoll and Nicole Scott and The Clarion String Quartet.
BellaCapella Choir is a vibrant choir dedicated to performing beautiful and inspiring music.
Known for their vocal harmonies and performances at charity events, concerts and competitions, they have been part of the local arts scene for a number of years.
BellaCapella members come from all over Mayo to meet every Wednesday evening in Music West, Castlebar, to rehearse a wide and varied repertoire of music, ranging from 16th Century Madrigals to The Beetles to Snow Patrol
The Charities to benefit from this fundraising concert are AIRC and Mayo Autism Camp. AIRC, who Support Children with Additional Needs was set up by parents for parents.
AIRC offers an inclusive social and fun side to life by providing various supports to families of children and young adults with mild to profound disabilities, aged from 2 years to 25 years.
AIRC is a voluntary non-profit organisation and rely on donations and fundraising.
Fundraisers like this concert ‘A Song for Winter’ is of huge importance to AIRC as it will help to deliver inclusive activities such as swimming, summer camps and sensory cinema outings.
Mayo Autism Camp, the other benefactor of the fundraising concert, provides socially inclusive activities for autistic children, teenagers and their families, ranging from camps during school holiday time, to cycling, Lego workshops, play therapy and family days.
Mayo Autism Camp will use the funds raised to subsidise each child that access their onsite play therapist. They would also like to purchase some musical equipment for their sensory garden
The members of BellaCapella, Castlebar Primary School Choir and The Clarion String Quartet look forward to performing for the public and raising money for these two great and important community charities and promises that this special event is a program designed to fill your hearts with cheer.
To help with fundraising efforts there will also be MEGA raffle on the night with lots of fabulous prizes.
