Mayo family bid to reach semi-finals of hit TV series
Taking place in the wilds of ‘Hell and Back’ Kilruddery Co Wicklow the quarter-finals of Ireland Fittest Family continue to play out, and will be shown on RTÉ One next Sunday, at 6.30 p.m.
The McDonagh family from Geesala, are coached by Davy Fitzgerlad, and they will be competing against the Carr family, Westmeath, and the Stuart family from Dublin. The Carr family are coached by Anna Geary, and the Stuart family are coached by Ellen Keane.
The three families and coaches are battling it out for the last two of the six places left in the semi-finals at Drogheda Port.
This year, the competition returns to ‘The Bog’ – but instead of a time trial, the families will be racing each other in ‘The Battle of the Bog.’ Two members of each family have to battle against the other families through the sticky course – before releasing the other two family members to do the same.
Next, they must take on a brand-new time trial ‘Monkey Madness,’ an unrelenting obstacle course which culminates in a series of punishing monkey bars.
With the scores of the first two events combined, the highest-scoring family will go through to the next round, and the two families at the bottom have to face off in the ‘Eliminator’ for another spot in the semi-finals.
