Top Mayo club drawn away from home in cup 1/4 final
Castlebar Celtic have been handed a tricky away tie against Colga FC in the Connacht Cup quarter-finals.
Stevie Gavin’s side booked their place in the last eight with a hard-fought third-round victory over Strand Celtic, and they will now travel to Galway for the quarter-final, scheduled for the first week of March 2026.
Colga FC will provide stern opposition. The Clarinbridge outfit currently lead the Galway Premier Division, sitting one point clear of Salthill Devon as the league approaches its halfway stage.
Celtic, meanwhile, have impressively navigated the competition so far despite being in the middle of pre-season preparations.
By Spring, they will hope to have gained momentum through the opening rounds of the Elverys Sport Super League, giving them sharper competitive edge.
The ‘Hoops’ are chasing a historic achievement this season: a third consecutive Connacht Cup title. Such a feat has never before been accomplished in the club’s long and decorated 101 year history.
Elsewhere in the draw, Conn Rangers will also be on their travels should they progress.
The north Mayo side take on Mervue United this Sunday, and the winners will face an away quarter-final against Ballinahown FC.
