Mayo grieves the passing of much-loved Charlie Muldoon

The death of Charlie Muldoon, Carrowcloghter, Ballyheane, Castlebar, has evoked a tremendous sense of loss and sorrow in the community.

He died suddenly yesterday at Galway University Hospital.

A skilled carpenter and construction worker, Charlie was widely known and respected throughout the region.

In a tribute, Westport House Estate thanked him for the great work he carried out there over the years.

"The memories will live on through your talented work throughout the estate.

"Thank you for the memories, the friendship, the many laughs."

Charlie was a member of Castlebar Golf Club, his good-natured and endearing manner making him a very popular and respected figure among his fellow players.

He proudly took part recently in the 'Brave the Drop' challenge at Croke Park in aid of Mayo Cancer Services.

His passing has created a huge void in the lives of his family and many friends.

Predeceased by his parents and sister Sheila Muldoon, he is deeply regretted by his loving partner Anne, son Shane, daughter Lauren, step-sons David and Jonathon, sister Marrion (Dundalk), brother Brian (Ballyglass), brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, David’s partner Gillian, Jonathon’s partner Sarah, grandchildren Jack, Dathaí and Oisín, nephews, nieces, relatives, neighbours and friends.

Deepest sympathy is extended to the bereaved family on their loss.

Charlie will repose in Ballyheane Community Centre tomorrow (Friday) from 5.30 p.m. with removal at 7 p.m. to St. Patrick’s Church, Ballyheane.

Requiem Mass takes place on Saturday at 1 p.m. and Charlie will be laid to rest afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.
