Spring start for Mayo climbing wall project

WORK on the new climbing wall project at Lough Lannagh in Castlebar is due to start next spring.

Progress continues on the facility, Councillor Blackie Gavin was told after he requested an update.

Earlier this year, Pat Grady & Associates was appointed lead consultant for the architect/engineer integrated design team. The specialist climbing wall tender has been approved, with a letter of intent issued to the successful tenderer.

This contract will be novated over to the main contract (mechanical and electrical), the tender for which has been returned and is being assessed.

Municipal district head David Mellett said it is hoped to start work on it in February or March.
