Caroline named Mayo Camogie Volunteer of the Year

CASTLEBAR Mitchels Camogie Club member Caroline Conway has been named as the Mayo Camogie Volunteer of the Year for 2025.

Her home club has paid tribute to a volunteer who is a real inspiration.

In a social media post, Castlebar Mitchels Camogie Club said: Caroline embodies the spirit of dedication and community service, making a huge impact on our club, Mayo Camogie and further afield.

As the secretary for both the club and county, Caroline has shown exceptional organisational skills and a commitment to ensuring smooth operations. Her attention to detail have helped facilitate numerous events, meetings and pitch schedules which keep our club on the path to success.

Beyond her administrative contributions, Caroline and her family are a generous sponsor of several teams, including Castlebar Mitchels LGFA, Snugboro Utd, and a co-sponsor of the county minor camogie team in 2024.

As a coach, Caroline has inspired countless young athletes, instilling in them not only the skills needed to excel in camogie but also the values of teamwork, sportsmanship and learning to have fun.

Caroline's role as a first aider highlights her commitment to the safety and well-being of our members. Her training and readiness to assist during matches and training sessions ensure that our athletes can participate with confidence.

Caroline is the first to assist on fundraising efforts for both our club, and the greater community, and will turn her hand at anything, even if that means painting walls and fences.

Caroline’s main passion is the development of ladies skills; whether at work as a development co-ordinator, in sport as a coach, or as a supporter, aiming to bring opportunities to as many as possible.

In recognition of her unwavering dedication, leadership, and infectious positive attitude she has on our club, we celebrate and congratulate Caroline on this award. Her contributions have made a lasting difference at Castlebar Mitchels Camogie Club and beyond.
