Cars parking up at residential areas in Mayo county town a concern
CARS parking up in a number of residential areas is a problem in Castlebar.
An issue at Belvedere Court was highlighted by Councillor Donna Sheridan.
She explained how a great job was done on active travel in Brooklands, with yellow lines put down. However, a lot of parking has now moved to Belvedere Court.
Residents cannot get in or out of their driveways at times, with quite a number of cars parking up there during the day, she said.
They are asking for double yellow lines and some support there, she told a municipal meeting.
Lawn Park is another area of concern raised by Councillor Michael Kilcoyne, with students from the local secondary schools parking up.
Driveways cannot be blocked, he said, and some regulation is needed.
Municipal head David Mellett said a letter drop was done at Lawn Park telling motorists if they're found there again they will be ticketed, and that seems to have addressed the issue.
