New ambassadors take up duty on Mayo's holy mountain
LEAVE No Trace Ireland has introduced the latest additions to its Croagh Patrick Ambassador Squad.
Six new ambassadors took up duty last weekend - Steve Brailey, Mairéad Staunton, Peter Nugent, Mary McGing, Jenny Grogan and Lindsay McConnell.
The ambassador programme aims to increase public awareness of the importance of care and respect for our natural heritage, to empower positive behavioural change and develop skills around outdoor recreation so that locals and visitors can continue to enjoy and protect Croagh Patrick and its surrounds.
Ambassadors receive training on the natural and cultural heritage of the mountain, and how the programme is working to promote responsible and sustainable access to Croagh Patrick.
Visitors to the mountain can look forward to meeting and engaging with the friendly team on the trail.
The Croagh Patrick Ambassador Programme is a collaboration between Leave No Trace Ireland and the Croagh Patrick Stakeholders Group.
