Mayo man makes generous donation on 21st birthday to Mary’s Meals

Patrick Ludden, from Castlebar, reached a significant milestone recently when he celebrated his 21st birthday.

However, instead of receiving gifts he asked his friends to donate to Mary’s Meals.

Mary’s Meals is a global movement of people playing their part in tackling world hunger by setting up school feeding programmes in partnership with some of the world’s poorest communities.

The school feeding programme also encourages children into the classroom and gives them the energy to concentrate on lessons, so they can gain an education that can help them work towards a brighter future.

Patrick’s fundraising idea helped raise €1,365 for Mary’s Meals, which will help feed an estimated 62 children for the year in their place of education.

This figure does not include the many people who donated online.

Patrick Ludden said: “We have so much, and so many children in the world are starving.”
