'Mobile Atlantic regime' to dominate Mayo's weekend weather

The weekend weather for Mayo is looking wet, wet, wet.

Rain and drizzle will spread from the Atlantic tomorrow (Saturday) morning.

The rain will be persistent through the day, turning heavy at times.

Afternoon highs of 9 to 12 degrees in fresh to strong and gusty south to southwest winds, with gales on western coasts.

A mobile Atlantic regime will dominate for the rest of the week and into next week too, bringing a continuation of unsettled weather.

Sunday is going to be a fairly wet, too, and a rather windy day nationwide, with spells of rain.

The rain will be heavy at times, especially in the south and west. with river and surface water flooding expected.

Indeed the heavy rainfall will bring a high risk of river flooding across western parts of Mayo, Cork, Kerry, Limerick, Clare Galway and Donegal, as the soils are saturated and the river levels are high.
