Major investment plan for unsightly prominent site in Mayo town centre
A major plan has been revealed to transform an unsightly prominent site at the junction of Stephen Garvey Way and Mountain View in Castlebar town centre.
Developer Harold Conway has lodged a planning application to Mayo County Council to demolish an existing two-storey dwelling at the location.
The proposal for the site is the construction of a five-storey building incorporating 26 apartments - 13 one-bed and 134 two-bed - and a commercial unit for retail, cafe and deli use.
There will be vehicular, pedestrian and cycle access at Stephen Garvey Way and pedestrian access via Mountain View.
Also planned are basement/undercroft car parking, cycle parking, open space and communal and private amenity.
A decision will be made on the application early in the new year.
