€2.3 million for Mayo schools through Minor Works and ICT Grants – Dillon

Minister of State Alan Dillon, TD, has welcomed €2.3m funding through the Minor Works and ICT Grants for schools across Mayo.

Minister for Education and Youth Hildegarde Naughton has announced €65 million in Minor Works and ICT grant funding for schools nationwide.

Schools across Mayo will receive €1.2 million through the Minor Works Grant, which will provide vital support for maintenance, small-scale improvements, and investment in digital infrastructure.

Primary Schools across Mayo will receive a total of €700,000, and Secondary Schools will receive €400,000 in ICT Grants.

The €35 million in ICT grant funding nationally represents the fourth tranche of ICT funding under the Digital Strategy for Schools to 2027. This builds on the €210 million already allocated under the previous Digital Strategy for Schools 2015-2020 Enhancing Teaching Learning and Assessment, and the €135 million that has issued to date under the current strategy.

The Minor Works Grant will issue in December 2025, while the ICT Grant will issue in January 2026.

Minister Dillon said: “I am delighted to confirm that Mayo schools will benefit from over €2.3 million in Minor Works and ICT funding. This investment will allow schools across the county to carry out essential maintenance, improve facilities, and strengthen their digital infrastructure.

“By setting a clear annual payment schedule, schools can plan ahead with confidence, ensuring safer buildings, better technology, and improved learning environments for students and teachers. This is a practical and positive step forward for Mayo’s school communities.”
