Quest continues to have Fontaines DC play a home concert in Mayo

A Castlebar councillor is continuing his quest to see Fontaines DC play a home concert in MacHale Park.

An event on the home turf of two of the band members could coincide with their Electric Picnic festival appearance next summer, it has been suggested.

Councillor Harry Barrett has previously suggested that a homecoming concert be staged in the county town, and he raised it again at the December Castlebar Municipal District meeting, asking the council to write to the Mayo county board or Connacht Council to invite them.

Two members of the internationally-successful band are from Castlebar - drummer Tom Coll, from Crimlin, and Conor Deegan, bass guitarist.

Councillor Barrett was told the council will write again, and perhaps they can piggyback on the Electric Picnic event.

The idea for the concert is getting national attention, with a discussion around it on Newstalk on Friday.
