Traffic calming requests from residents in Mayo county town

A REQUEST has been made for traffic calming measures on Pound Road in Castlebar.

Residents have contacted Councillor Donna Sheridan for measures, including a pedestrian crossing.

There is a lot of speeding on the route, especially at night, she said. Residents suggested speed ramps or a plan for some traffic calming at the location.

Speed ramps are also needed in the Fortlands area, Councillor Harry Barrett told the same municipal meeting.

It's a 'runway' from the roundabout to the golf range and they have to break up the speed.
