Car park at cemetery in Mayo county town 'embarrassing'

THE car park at the new cemetery in Castlebar has become an 'embarrassment'.

There's rubble dumped at the back of it, Councillor Ger Deere highlighted at a municipal district meeting, and machinery parked up.

It's embarrassing, he said, and not good enough for the deceased members of the town.

It is in a 'shocking' state, Councillor Blackie Gavin agreed, with large craters.

Municipal district head David Mellett said there is funding for a tidy up and barriers at the entrance in next year's budget.
