Uprating of south Mayo overhead power line gets planning approval

Eirgrid PLC has been granted planning permission by Mayo County Council for works to uprate the existing 110 kV overhead line between Dalton, Claremorris, and Cashla, Co. Galway.

Within County Mayo, the proposed development will take place within the following townlands:

Dalgan Demesne, Pollbaun, Carrowbeg West, Gorteens, Seefin, Brookhill, Carrowmore, Ballyhankeen, Rushbrook East, Ballycusheen, Scardaun West, Millbrook, Milford Demesne, Curraghadooey, Lisduff, Rathgranagher (Miller), Drummin West, Carrowbeg East, Rathgranagher (Lindsay), Crossboyne, Kilbeg-Malone, Davros, Derry, Clare, Greaghans, Coolroe, Roos and Leedaun.

The project is 57.7 km in length and currently has a total of 271 supporting structures.

Within the functional area of Mayo County Council, there is 24.7 km of the existing OHL circuit, with 111 structures.

A number of conditions have been attached to the permission for the major investment.
