President Connolly invited to visit Mayo

PRESIDENT Catherine Connolly is to be invited to visit west and north Mayo.

The invitation is to be issued from the Westport-Belmullet Municipal District.

A formal civic reception in Westport along with visits to Achill, Belmullet and Louisburgh were proposed at the December municipal district meeting.

Fianna Fáil Councillor Brendan Mulroy noted the tradition Westport has in welcoming former Presidents and the great relationships they enjoyed with them, and he asked that they would extend an invitation to the new President of Ireland.

There was unanimous support for the idea.
