Brilliant second-half display gives Mayo's Tooreen an All-Ireland final place

Tooreen put in a brilliant second-half performances to defeat Tyrone's Éire Óg Carrickmore by 1-28 to 1-17 and qualify for the All-Ireland Intermediate Hurling Championship final, writes Aiden Henry.

After an indifferent first half in Breffni Park, Cavan, the Mayo champions trailed by two at the interval (0-10 to 0-12).

However, on the resumption they took complete control and after outscoring their opponents by 0-10 to 0-3 to really take a firm grip on matters, they wrapped the game up with a great goal from Shane Boland to book their place in the final.

In that decider they will face Tipperary's Upperchurch Drombane after the Munster champions defeated Leinster kingpins Danesfort of Kilkenny in the other semi-final. That game will be played over the weekend of January 10/11.
