New look for St. Stephen Day's Walk in Mayo town

The traditional St. Stephen's Day walk in Castlebar takes place at 10 a.m. on December 26 next.

Everyone can join in and enjoy the fresh air and scenery of the new route around Burren.

Walk off the turkey and mince pies by being part of the 57th Robert Kilkelly Memorial Walk.

It starts and finishes at Johnny McHale’s Pub.

One can walk 10 km and finish before midday.

Alternatively, take the 20k walk and finish between 1.30 and 2 p.m.

Either way, you need sturdy, comfortable footwear, a waterproof/hi-vis jacket and a little bit of the Christmas spirit.

‘Go n-éireoidh an bóthar leat’.

Meanwhile, members of the public are also invited to take part in the annual St. Stephen’s Day Walk in Knock, beginning after the 12 noon Mass (approximately 12.45pm) at the gates of the Old Church.

Enjoy a short community walk (3km loop) around the Shrine grounds and refreshments in Knock Community Centre afterwards.

All proceeds will go to Vincent de Paul and UNICEF.
