Support urged to turn Mayo's Milebush Park into football centre of excellence

COUNCIL support has been requested to turn Milebush Park, Castlebar, into a centre of excellence for football.

The matter was raised by Councillor Blackie Gavin during a discussion on a new outdoor recreation plan for Mayo where he hailed the work of his colleague, Councillor Joe Faughnan, who is very involved in football in the county.

“I know you are looking for land off the council and you should be given the land,” Councillor Gavin stated at the monthly meeting of Mayo County Council.

“It will turn Milebush into a centre of excellence,” he said, attracting people from all over the country and outside it, including European football teams.
