Eleven teams confirmed for new Mayo senior masters competitions
The Mayo Football League's new Senior Masters League will kick off on Wednesday, January 7.
Eleven teams will be competing in the inaugural competition. It was due to be 12 but Ballyglass have withdrawn, leaving Ballina Town, Ballinrobe Town, Ballyheane, Ballyvary Blue Bombers, Castlebar Town, Claremorris, Conn Rangers, Fahy Rovers, Manulla, Snugboro United and Westport United to battle it out.
A cup competition will be played when the league has concluded.
The competitions – for players aged 42 and over – will be played in an eight-a-side format, with squads of 12 players permitted.
All games will be played on the astroturf pitch at Umbro Park, Milebush, Castlebar. Matches will be 25 mins per half, with a 10-minute half-time break.
The Senior Masters League first round games on January 7 are as follows: Manulla v Ballina Town (7.30 p.m.), Castlebar Town v Ballyvary Blue Bombers (7.30 p.m.), Claremorris v Fahy Rovers (8.30 p.m.), Ballinrobe Town v Conn Rangers (8.30 p.m.), Snugboro United v Ballyheane (9.30 p.m.).
