Mayo date for band renowned for electrifying live shows

Renowned for their electrifying live shows, NoCrows will bring their unique fusion of genres to Ballina Arts Centre on January 23 next.

Formed in 2005, the dynamic Sligo-based folk orchestra has built a reputation for a spectacularly diverse sound.

Their growing catalogue of original material draws from a rich melting pot of influences, including Irish traditional, Latin rumba, jazz, classical, and Balkan music.

The band's vibrant sound is driven by the distinct compositional voices of all six members: Felip Carbonell (guitar, voice), Ray Coen (guitar, fiddle, voice), Anna Houston (cello, mandolin), Eddie Lee (double bass), Oleg Ponomarev (violin) and Steve Wickham (fiddle, voice).

Their performances are a journey from delicate Irish airs to Gypsy mayhem, captivating audiences at major festivals like Glastonbury and Dranouter.

Dublin-based Ponomarev, for instance, consistently challenges and excites the ensemble with his Gypsy and jazz-influenced tunes. As Eddie Lee notes: “Oleg is one of those exciting musicians I used to go and hear in concert before getting the chance to work with him. He writes tunes that challenge and excite – especially us lucky musicians who get to play them.”

The collaborative spirit ensures a constantly evolving and thrilling repertoire, much of which will be featured in the early 2026 live dates.

Tickets for NoCrows' Ballina Arts Centre show cost €22 (+booking fee) and can be booked online here.
