No funding for Mayo group water scheme generators

A REQUEST for funds to supply generators to a number of group water schemes in Mayo has not received a favourable response.

Head of rural water Michael Heneghan has made a business case to the department for generators, a west Mayo municipal district meeting was told, following on to what happened as a result of Storm Éowyn.

Unfortunately, the department did not see fit to make a funding stream available for generators.

Mr. Heneghan told councillors he can ask them to look at it again, saying he thought it would be money well spent.
