Mayo goalkeeper joins top LOI side
Shelbourne FC have confirmed the signing of Westport goalkeeper Conor Walsh from Sligo Rovers for an undisclosed fee.
The 20-year-old arrives at Tolka Park after progressing through the academy ranks at Sligo Rovers, having joined the Bit O’Red from Westport United.
Walsh gained senior experience with Rovers and enjoyed regular first-team football during loan spells with Wexford FC and Finn Harps.
He made his League of Ireland debut against Bohemians at Dalymount Park on the final day of the 2022 season and went on to feature five times the following year.
A former Rice College and Summerhill student, Walsh also represented the Republic of Ireland at underage international level.
Speaking after completing the move, Walsh said he was “absolutely delighted” to sign for Shelbourne and was looking forward to getting started at Tolka Park.
Shelbourne head coach Joey O’Brien said the club were pleased to bring in a “young, hungry goalkeeper with first-team experience”, while technical director Luke Byrne described Walsh as an ambitious and talented addition who the club believe can flourish under the guidance of goalkeeping coach Paul Skinner.
