Mayo team named for FBD League opener against Sligo

The Mayo team to face Sligo in round one of the Connacht GAA FBD League has been named.

In a similar vein to the pre-season challenge against Offaly before Christmas, manager Andy Moran has opted for a mix of youth and experience.

The returning Robbie Hennelly has been handed the number one jersey, while the likes of Eoin McGreal, Liam Golden, Michael Plunkett, Brian O'Malley, Nathan Moran, Adam Barrett, Seamus Howard, Darragh Beirne and Kuba Callaghan bring fresh impetus to the starting line-up.

Enda Hession, Jordan Flynn and Aidan O'Shea add huge experience in key areas of the field as preparations ramp up for the inter-county season.

There's a good mix of experience and youth among the substitutes too, with the likes of Ryan O'Donoghue, Stephen Coen, James Carr, Bob Tuohy and Jack Coyne, captain for the coming season, all ready to make an impact if called upon.

The starting Mayo team in full is as follows: Robbie Hennelly; Eoin McGreal, Liam Golden, Enda Hession; Fenton Kelly, Michael Plunkett, Colm Lynch; Jordan Flynn, Brian O'Malley; Nathan Moran, Adam Barrett, Seamus Howard; Darragh Beirne, Aidan O'Shea, Kuba Callaghan.

On the subs' bench are: Jack Livingstone, Jack Coyne, Liam Donoghue, Cathal Keaveney, Bob Tuohy, Ryan O'Donoghue, Stephen Coen, Diarmuid Duffy, Dylan Thornton, James Carr, Finbar McLaughlin.
