Status Yellow snow and ice warning updated for Mayo

Met Éireann has updated its Status Yellow Snow-Ice warning, which now applies to Connaught as well as Cavan, Donegal, Monaghan and Louth.

The warning highlights the risk of wintry showers, with some snow accumulations possible, along with sharp or severe frost and icy conditions.

Hazardous travel conditions and poor visibility are among the possible impacts, particularly during the overnight and early morning period.

The warning is valid from 6 p.m. on Saturday, January 3, until 11 a.m. on Sunday, January 4.

Motorists and pedestrians are being advised to exercise caution, as icy stretches may develop on untreated roads and footpaths.

The updated warning was issued at 11.44 a.m. on Friday, January 2.
