Engagement ongoing to achieve 'transformative' zoning for Mayo airport

Ongoing engagement is taking place in respect of the Strategic Development Zone (SDZ) at Ireland West Airport, one of the most significant long-term economic opportunities for the region.

In an update on the zoning initiative, Minister of State Alan Dillon revealed: “I have attended a series of high-level meetings in recent months and will meet the SDZ steering committee early in the new year to review progress.

"This project, alongside a new IDA development in Castlebar, will ensure Mayo and the west are positioned to compete for new opportunities in the years ahead.

"My focus is on delivery, ensuring Mayo benefits from sustained investment in enterprise infrastructure, job creation, and regional growth and many of these projects will help transform our economic landscape into the future.”
