Death in Cork of proud Mayo man Joe Sheridan is deeply regretted
The death has taken place in Cork of Joe Sheridan, formerly of Turlough Road, Castlebar.
In his 60s, Joe was a member of a widely-respected and popular local family and news of his passing is deeply mourned by everybody who knew him, such was his endearing and affable nature.
Joe was a beloved husband to his cherished wife Isabelle and a loving father of Claudia, Maeve and Owen.
He will be greatly missed by his treasured grandchildren Cillian and Saibh, Claudia's partner Ciaran and future son-in-law Luke.
Joe is also sadly missed by his brothers Ger and Peter, sisters Mary, Ann and Siobhan, parents-in-law and extended family in France and Mayo as well as his many work colleagues from the Cork Simon Community, neighbours and a wide circle of friends in both Cork and Mayo.
Deepest sympathy is extended to the bereaved family on their loss.
He was predeceased by his parents, Bridie and Martin Sheridan, and his sister Martina, Turlough Road, Castlebar.
From the hills of Mayo to the streets of Cork, he was a man of great kindness and a spirit that loved the fun of life.
Many warm tributes are being paid to him on social media.
One stated: "I am deeply saddened to hear of the untimely passing of the lovely, considerate, kind and fun Joe. I cannot imagine the void left by such a wonderful presence."
Another said: "He was such a kind, genuine person and will be so greatly missed."
A further tribute observed: "What a character the world has lost. Such a gentle, free spirited soul who always had a story to share."
Reposing at the Temple Hill Funeral Home, Boreenmanna Road, Cork, tomorrow (Friday) from 5 to 6 p.m.
Requiem Mass at 10 a.m. on Saturday in the Church of Our Lady of Lourdes, Ballinlough, with committal service afterwards at the Island Crematorium, Rocky Island, Ringaskiddy, Co. Cork.
May his gentle soul rest in peace.
