Mayo church to celebrate reopening after storm repairs

HOLY Trinity Church in Westport will celebrate its reopening with a special service later this month.

The church was closed for a number of months after being damaged during Storm Éowyn.

The community gathered to celebrate services in St. Mary's Church after Fr. John Kenny threw open its doors to welcome them in.

Ten months after Storm Éowyn, Holy Trinity Church reopened for worship at the end of November, with limitations.

Repair work on the remaining sections of ceiling of the church began on January 5 and will take approximately two weeks. As a result, Holy Trinity services on January 11 and 18 will be back in St. Mary's Church, at 12 noon.

A public celebration of the reopening will take place in Holy Trinity Church with the Rt. Revd. Bishop Michael Burrows on Friday, January 23, at 7.30 p.m.

All are warmly invited.
