Monday, January 12, is set to bring a mix of scattered showers and occasional sunny spells across Mayo and the wider west, according to the latest forecast.

Daytime temperatures will range from 7 to 10 degrees, with moderate to fresh south-westerly winds making it feel cooler at times.

These winds are expected to ease to light to moderate levels by evening.

Nationally, the outlook remains generally unsettled as low pressure continues to dominate weather patterns.

Into Monday night, there will be some clear spells and scattered showers early on, before cloud builds from the west overnight, bringing more widespread outbreaks of rain.

As winds become light and variable, patches of mist and fog are likely to develop.

Overnight temperatures will fall to between 1 and 5 degrees.
