Warm tributes to Mayo man Neil Dolan who served his nation
The death of Neil Dolan, Queen of Peace Nursing Home, Knock, and formerly of Spencer Street, Castlebar, is widely mourned in the community.
He died on Saturday at Mayo University Hospital, Castlebar.
Neil will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his sisters Ann, Breege, Bernie and Sheila, his brother Michael, nephews Jason, Gary and Fergy, nieces Áine, Olivia, Julia and Mary, his loyal and caring friends Liam, Austin, Pat, Hughie, Padraig and Jodi as well as Siobhán, and the other wonderful staff of the Queen of Peace Nursing Home.
Deepest sympathy is extended to the bereaved family on their loss.
He was predeceased by his parents Julia (née O’Donnell) and Michael Dolan, and his sisters Christina and Mary.
Captain Donal Buckley, on behalf of the Mayo Branch of the Óglaigh Náisiúnta na hÉireann, has expressed deep and profound sympathy to the family and friends of Neil.
"We thank Neil for his service to the Irish nation and we pray for the repose of his gentle soul," he stated.
In a tribute, businessman Mícheál McDermott described the deceased as 'a wonderful neighbour, colleague and friend'.
"Neil was a man with many talents, a good nature and a great sense of fun," he added.
Another tribute said: "He was such a nice man. Remembering the happy times we had in Spencer Street all those years ago."
Neil will repose at Kilcoyne’s Funeral Home, Thomas Street, Castlebar, from 6.30 to 8 p.m. this evening (Monday)
Requiem Mass takes place in the Church of the Holy Rosary on Tuesday at 11.30 a.m, after which Neil will be laid to rest in New Cemetery.
