30 patients without beds at Mayo emergency unit as crisis deepens

A total of 30 patients are without beds in the emergency department of Mayo University Hospital today.

A further six patients are on chairs or trolleys in hallways of wards elsewhere as the overcrowding crisis at the centre deepens by the day.

Nationally, 769 admitted patients are waiting for beds this morning, according to today’s INMO Trolley Watch.

Of those, 467 patients are waiting in the emergency department, while 302 are in wards elsewhere in the hospital.
